AED Pad and Battery Guide

AED.us carries AED pads and batteries for all AEDs that are pre-market approved (PMA) by the FDA. AED pads, also called “electrodes,” use adhesive to stick to the patients torso. The wires, or “leads,” to/from the AED pads communicate to the AED with a diagnosis of the patient. If a shockable heart rhythm is detected, the AED will discharge an electrical current through the leads, AED pads and, ultimately, the patients body. The purpose of the electrical shock is to allow the heart to “restart” a normal rhythm. AED pads are placed on slightly different areas of the patient’s torso, depending on size and shape.

AED Batteries provide power to the device that allows for proper functionality, allowing the unit to perform self-tests and to deliver a life-saving shock during a cardiac event. AED.US carries all OEM factory batteries of PMA-approved devices. Some batteries are rechargeable and others non-rechargeable, several batteries are TSO rated to allow them to be carried aboard aircraft. It is important to always check your battery life to insure the AED functions properly and to replace them per manufacturer guidelines.
